Design Principle
Define which (multi)lingual knowledge, skills and attitude must be learned in all subjects
Example
In every subject, students learn the specific language (written and verbal) that corresponds with that subject, developing their skills in listening, reading, speaking and writing; they are also stimulated in every subject to make use of multilingual repertoires.

Checklist
Teachers…
- Pay attention to the subject language and subject-specific input (written and oral) in their lessons
- Set language goals for each lesson (series), next to subject goals
- Create ample opportunities for listening, reading, speaking and writing, aligned with their subject and language goals
- Draw on the multilingualism of students
