Time
Design Principle
Indicate how and where in the curriculum time is allocated for working on language development
Example
Students are given time throughout all school years to work on their language development, both in language and subject-specific classes. They are encouraged to do so because there is ample time/space in the lessons for speaking, writing, reading, and listening.

Checklist
Teachers…
- systematically allocate time in their lessons for language activities
- take time to provide (written and oral) feedback
- encourage students to spend time on language activities outside of lessons (e.g., reading, listening, debating, writing)
