Description
We are an internationally oriented school in Haarlemmermeer, Hoofddorp. Daily, we welcome over 1200 students between the ages of 11 and 18 years old. We are a small community that represents more than 40 cultures. Since 2018 we offer bilingual education to international students. In the program we focus on teaching them the Dutch language. Our team of teachers use the CLIL methodology in their lessons as an instrument. Global citizenship is an important part of our education. Every year our students go on an internationally oriented excursion, day trip, study tour or exchange and participate in various projects e.g. focus on sustainability. Furthermore, we have two debating groups (lower and upper grades) and a group of senior students attend various MUN conferences in The Netherlands.

Description
We are a secondary school located in the centre of the Netherlands. We have been a bilingual school (more than half of our subjects are solely taught in English) for 17 years, for our vwo pupils. Throughout the years we have implemented the bilingual stream for our havo and vmbo pupils as well. CLIL methodology is an important part of our bilingual stream, and we’ve provided workshops for teachers of the non-bilingual stream in the past. In addition, we have two CLIL coaches who help out teachers to implement CLIL in their classrooms. Our school has started a project to enhance basic reading comprehension skills for Dutch. Using CLIL would be an asset to that project. International mindedness (global citizenship) is an important part of our education. We offer exchange programs to your bilingual students and are part of the ERASMUS+ HOPE project. Furthermore, our senior students organise an MUN each year (FAMUN).

Structure
We are a secondary school with 1200 students between the ages of 12 and 18. Our school is situated in the South of Amsterdam and our population is a true representation of the cultural mix of Amsterdam.
Our school focusses on bilingual education, sports and internationalization. We’ve been offering bilingual education since 2014 and have a team of around 30 colleagues who teach in the bilingual department. We have long standing work relationships with collaborative partner schools in Belgium, Germany, Italy and India and in the past China. Over the past couple of years, we’ve gradually introduced Blended Learning throughout the school. Currently all our students have their own devices and have ready access to technological resources in order to enhance their learning experience. As a school, it is our ambition for all our students to benefit from the advantages of teaching through CLIL and by taking part in this project we hope to train more teachers in CLIL didactics, and ultimately target a larger portion of our student body. We’re looking forward to cooperating with the various partner schools in order to learn with and from each other.
